Megaterium

Megatherium (/ m ɛ ɡ ə ˈ θ ɪər i ə m / meg-ə-THEER-ee-əm from the Greek mega [μέγας], meaning great, and therion [θηρίον], beast) is an extinct genus of ground sloths endemic to South America that lived from the Early Pliocene through the end of the Pleistocene. It is best known for the elephant-sized type species M. americanum, sometimes called the giant ground sloth. Bacillus megaterium is a rod-like, Gram-positive, mainly aerobic spore forming bacterium found in widely diverse habitats. With a cell length of up to 4 µm and a diameter of 1.5 µm, B. megaterium is amongst the biggest known bacteria. The cells often occur in pairs and chains, where the cells are joined together by polysaccharides on the cell walls [citation needed]

Megatherium is a slow, gentle creature that will not attack a player unprovoked. This changes if there are insects nearby, at which point the Megatherium will become aggressive to any insect, player, or dinos nearby. This is accompanied by a cloud surrounding its head to indicate its transitioned state of temper Megatherium, largest of the ground sloths, an extinct group of mammals belonging to a group containing sloths, anteaters, glyptodonts, and armadillos that underwent a highly successful evolutionary radiation in South America in the Cenozoic Era (beginning 65.5 million years ago). Bacillus megaterium. Description and significance. Bacillus megaterium is a gram positive, endospore forming, rod shaped bacteria. It is considered aerobic. It is found in soil and considered a saprophyte. Bacillus megaterium is latin for the big beast because it is an extremely large bacteria, it is about 100 times as large as E. coli.Due to its immense size, about 60 micrometers cubed, B. Bacillus megaterium acts as agent in biocontrol of plant diseases and has been significant since it produces penicillin amidase used to make synthetic penicillin, glucose dehydrogenase used as an indicator in glucose blood test and amylases utilized in baking industry

Bacillus Megaterium explained by Bud Bionics. megateriumgrows at temperatures from 3 °C to 45 °C, with the optimum around 30 °C. Some isolates from an Antarctic geothermal lake were found to grow at temperatures up to 63 °C. [1] megateriumhas been recognized as an endophyte and is a potential agent for the biocontrol of plant diseases Megatherium would have used its ability to walk on just its hind legs to reach further up,‭ ‬where it could use its large claws to pull down branches towards its mouth.‭ ‬Megatherium is also thought to have had a long tongue which it could then use to wrap around the branches,‭ ‬stripping off leaves and soft fresh growth.‭ ‬However,‭ ‬just because Megatherium could reach up. Bacillus megaterium, which is a Gram-positive bacterium, belongs to the genus Bacillus. It can form spores. In agriculture, Bacillus megaterium can be used to produce phosphate-fixing and potassium-fixing fertilizers. It has a good effect of degrading organic phosphorus in soil
